Nowadays, a huge part of blogging is tying it all together by social networking. Chances are that you not only have a blog, but you also have a Facebook, Twitter or Youtube account, just to name a few. And if you don’t, then chances are that many of your blog readers will have some of their own.
With a few simple plugins, integrating social networks into your blogging experience is easier than before.
How to link to your social network accounts:
A great plugin for this task is the Social Homes plugin. With this plugin, a sidebar widget is created with the option of adding a small favicon (image) to each of the accounts you decide to list.
Download the plugin from the WordPress plugin directory and upload to your wp-content/plugins/ folder on your server. For more information on uploading plugins see our detailed plugin installation section.
After uploading, activate the plugin in your dashboard. Since this is a plugin for a widget, you will then need to add the widget to your sidebar, adding in whatever social networking account links you may own.
How to allow others to link your information through their social network accounts:
When a reader finds your blog post interesting, they may want to share the information with their social networks. A good way to ensure they are able to do this easily is by including the social bookmarks options at the end of your posts. By doing so, readers are more likely to pass the post along if it just means they have to click a button.
A good plugin for this task is the Social Bookmarks plugin. To install, follow the instructions above or on the Detailed Plugin Installation page.
